Ozone Hole

Ozone hole is a region of the stratosphere with a significant depletion of ozone. It is primarily caused by the release of human-made chemicals, such as chlorofluorocarbons (CFCs), which break down ozone molecules. The depletion of ozone in the ozone hole leads to an increase in harmful ultraviolet radiation reaching the Earth's surface, which can have negative effects on human health and the environment. The ozone hole is most prominent over Antarctica, where it forms every spring. However, it can also occur over other regions of the world, such as the Arctic. Efforts to reduce the production and use of ozone-depleting substances have been successful in slowing the growth of the ozone hole, but it is expected to persist for several decades.
