Navigation Aids
Navigation aids are devices or systems that assist in guiding spacecraft during their journey in space. These aids include but are not limited to star trackers, gyroscopes, accelerometers, and GPS. Star trackers are used to determine the orientation of the spacecraft by identifying the position of stars in the sky. Gyroscopes are used to measure the angular velocity of the spacecraft and maintain its orientation. Accelerometers are used to measure the acceleration of the spacecraft and determine its velocity. GPS is used to determine the position of the spacecraft relative to Earth. Navigation aids are crucial for the success of space missions as they ensure that the spacecraft is on the correct trajectory and can reach its intended destination.
