Michelson Interferometer
Michelson Interferometer is an optical instrument that uses the interference of light waves to measure distances with extreme precision. It consists of a beam splitter that divides a beam of light into two paths, which are then reflected back and recombined at the beam splitter. The interference pattern produced by the recombined beams is used to measure the difference in distance between the two paths. Michelson Interferometer has been used in various applications in space and astronautical engineering, such as measuring the distance between the Earth and the Moon, detecting gravitational waves, and testing the stability of spacecraft structures.
