Launch Site

A launch site is a location from which spacecraft or missiles are launched. It typically includes facilities for assembling and testing the vehicles, as well as infrastructure for fueling and transporting them to the launch pad. Launch sites are often located near the equator to take advantage of the Earth's rotation for a boost in velocity, and near bodies of water to provide a safety buffer in case of an accident. They may also be situated in remote areas to minimize the risk to populated areas. Launch sites can be operated by government agencies, such as NASA or Roscosmos, or by private companies, such as SpaceX or Blue Origin.
