IP
In space and astronautical engineering, IP stands for Ingress Protection. It is a rating system used to classify the degree of protection provided by an enclosure against the intrusion of solid objects, dust, water, and accidental contact. The IP rating consists of two digits, the first one indicating the level of protection against solid objects and the second one indicating the level of protection against liquids. The higher the number, the greater the level of protection. IP ratings are important in the design and testing of spacecraft and their components to ensure they can withstand the harsh conditions of space.
