Interplanetary Trajectory Design

Interplanetary Trajectory Design is the process of determining the path that a spacecraft will follow from its initial orbit around one celestial body to its final orbit around another celestial body. This involves calculating the necessary velocity changes, or delta-v, required to transfer the spacecraft from one orbit to another, as well as optimizing the trajectory to minimize fuel consumption and travel time. Interplanetary Trajectory Design also takes into account the gravitational influences of other celestial bodies, such as planets and moons, which can be used to assist or perturb the spacecraft's trajectory. This field of study is crucial for the success of interplanetary missions, such as those conducted by NASA's Voyager and Mars rovers.
