Hybrid Systems

Hybrid systems refer to the combination of two or more different types of systems, such as mechanical, electrical, and/or software systems, that work together to achieve a common goal in the context of space and astronautical engineering. These systems are designed to take advantage of the strengths of each individual system while minimizing their weaknesses. Hybrid systems are commonly used in spacecraft and launch vehicles, where they can improve performance, reliability, and safety. For example, a hybrid propulsion system may use both chemical and electric propulsion to achieve high thrust and high specific impulse. Another example is a hybrid guidance and control system that combines inertial sensors and star trackers to provide accurate and robust attitude determination and control. Hybrid systems require careful integration and testing to ensure proper functionality and performance.
