Fission Events

Fission events refer to the process of splitting an atomic nucleus into two or more smaller nuclei, along with the release of a large amount of energy. In the context of space and astronautical engineering, fission events are often used to power spacecraft and generate electricity in space. Nuclear reactors that use fission events to generate power are commonly used in space missions that require a long-term, reliable power source, such as deep space probes and satellites. Fission events can also be used to propel spacecraft, through the use of nuclear thermal rockets, which heat a propellant using the energy released by fission events. While fission events offer many advantages for space exploration, they also pose significant safety and environmental risks, and require careful handling and management.
