Fire Protection

Fire protection is the study and practice of mitigating the unwanted effects of fires, including suppression, detection, and prevention. In the context of space and astronautical engineering, fire protection is a critical aspect of spacecraft design and operation. Due to the unique environment of space, fires can have catastrophic consequences, including loss of life and mission failure. Fire protection measures for spacecraft include the use of non-flammable materials, fire detection and suppression systems, and crew training in fire response and prevention. Additionally, fire protection is important for launch vehicles and ground support equipment, as fires during launch or on the launch pad can also have serious consequences.
