Exosphere

Exosphere is the outermost layer of the Earth's atmosphere, extending from the thermosphere to the edge of the space. It is a region of extremely low density and pressure, where the few particles that exist are mostly hydrogen and helium atoms, as well as some heavier molecules such as nitrogen, oxygen, and carbon dioxide. The exosphere is where the Earth's atmosphere merges with the vacuum of space, and it is the region where satellites and other spacecraft orbit the Earth. Due to its low density, the exosphere is also the region where atmospheric drag on spacecraft is minimal, allowing them to maintain their orbits for long periods of time without the need for propulsion. The exosphere is also the region where atmospheric gases can escape into space, a process known as atmospheric escape or planetary wind.
