European Space Agency

The European Space Agency (ESA) is an intergovernmental organization dedicated to the exploration of space. Established in 1975, ESA has 22 member states and works closely with the European Union to develop and launch space missions, design and build spacecraft, and conduct scientific research. ESA's activities include Earth observation, navigation, telecommunications, human spaceflight, and exploration of the Solar System and the Universe. ESA operates a range of spacecraft, including the Huygens probe that landed on Saturn's moon Titan, the Rosetta spacecraft that orbited and landed on a comet, and the Gaia spacecraft that is mapping the Milky Way galaxy. ESA also collaborates with other space agencies, such as NASA and the Russian space agency Roscosmos, on joint missions and projects.
