ESD

ESD stands for Electrostatic Discharge. It is a sudden flow of electricity between two electrically charged objects caused by contact, an electrical short, or dielectric breakdown. In the context of space and astronautical engineering, ESD can cause damage to electronic components and systems, which can lead to mission failure. Therefore, ESD protection measures are critical in the design and operation of spacecraft and their components. These measures include grounding, shielding, and the use of ESD protective materials and devices.
