Connection-oriented

In space and astronautical engineering, connection-oriented refers to a type of communication protocol that establishes a dedicated connection between two devices before transmitting data. This connection is maintained throughout the duration of the communication, and is terminated only when the communication is complete. Connection-oriented protocols are commonly used in space missions where reliable and error-free data transmission is critical, such as in spacecraft telemetry and command systems. The establishment of a dedicated connection ensures that data is transmitted in the correct order and that any errors are detected and corrected. However, connection-oriented protocols can be slower than connectionless protocols due to the overhead required to establish and maintain the connection.
