Escape Velocity

Escape velocity is the minimum speed needed for an object to break free from the gravitational attraction of a celestial body and move into space without further propulsion. It is the speed at which the kinetic energy of an object is equal to the gravitational potential energy of the object. The escape velocity from Earth is about 11.2 km/s. Escape velocity is an important concept in space and astronautical engineering as it determines the amount of energy required to launch a spacecraft into orbit or to send it to other celestial bodies. It is also used to calculate the trajectories of spacecraft and to plan interplanetary missions.
