Encryption Algorithms

Encryption algorithms are mathematical procedures used to convert plaintext into ciphertext, making it unreadable to unauthorized users. In the context of space and astronautical engineering, encryption algorithms are used to secure communication between spacecraft and ground stations, as well as to protect sensitive data transmitted between different spacecraft systems. Encryption algorithms can be symmetric or asymmetric, with symmetric algorithms using the same key for both encryption and decryption, while asymmetric algorithms use different keys for each process. Common encryption algorithms used in space and astronautical engineering include Advanced Encryption Standard (AES), Data Encryption Standard (DES), and Rivest-Shamir-Adleman (RSA).
