Emissivity


Emissivity is the measure of a material's ability to emit thermal radiation. In space and astronautical engineering, emissivity is an important property to consider when designing spacecraft and their components. A material with high emissivity will radiate heat more efficiently than a material with low emissivity. This is important for controlling the temperature of spacecraft and their components, as well as for thermal management during re-entry into the Earth's atmosphere.
