Electromagnetic Shielding

Electromagnetic Shielding is the practice of reducing the electromagnetic field in a space by blocking the field with barriers made of conductive or magnetic materials. This is done to protect electronic equipment and systems from electromagnetic interference (EMI) that can cause malfunctions or damage. Electromagnetic shielding can be achieved by using materials such as copper, aluminum, or steel to create a Faraday cage around the equipment or by using magnetic materials to redirect the electromagnetic field. Electromagnetic shielding is important in space and astronautical engineering as the electromagnetic radiation in space can interfere with the functioning of electronic equipment and systems on spacecraft and satellites.
