Electromagnetic Compatibility Testing

Electromagnetic Compatibility (EMC) testing is the process of evaluating the ability of electronic equipment to function properly in its intended electromagnetic environment and not interfere with the operation of other equipment in the same environment. EMC testing involves measuring the levels of electromagnetic emissions generated by the equipment under test and assessing its susceptibility to electromagnetic interference from other sources. The testing is performed to ensure that the equipment complies with regulatory requirements and industry standards, and to identify any potential issues that may cause malfunctions or safety hazards. EMC testing is particularly important in the space and astronautical engineering context, where electronic equipment is exposed to harsh electromagnetic environments, such as those encountered during launch, in orbit, or during re-entry.
