Electromagnetic Compatibility

Electromagnetic Compatibility (EMC) is the ability of electrical and electronic systems, equipment, and devices to function properly in their intended electromagnetic environment without causing or suffering from any electromagnetic interference (EMI). EMC is concerned with the design, development, testing, and implementation of systems that can operate reliably and safely in the presence of electromagnetic disturbances. EMC involves controlling emissions from electronic devices and ensuring their immunity to external electromagnetic fields. It also includes the study of electromagnetic phenomena and their effects on electronic systems. EMC is critical in space and astronautical engineering as the harsh electromagnetic environment of space can cause interference and damage to electronic systems and devices.
