Electrochemical Cells

Electrochemical cells are devices that convert chemical energy into electrical energy or vice versa through redox reactions. In space and astronautical engineering, electrochemical cells are commonly used as power sources for spacecraft and satellites. The most common type of electrochemical cell used in space is the solar cell, which converts sunlight into electrical energy. Other types of electrochemical cells used in space include fuel cells, which generate electricity through the reaction of hydrogen and oxygen, and batteries, which store electrical energy for later use. Electrochemical cells are also used in life support systems to generate oxygen and remove carbon dioxide from the air.
