Ductility

Ductility is the ability of a material to deform under tensile stress. In space and astronautical engineering, ductility is an important property of materials used in the construction of spacecraft and their components. Materials with high ductility can withstand the stresses of launch and spaceflight without fracturing or breaking. Ductility is also important in the design of structures that must withstand the extreme temperatures and pressures of space environments. Materials with high ductility can be formed into complex shapes and structures, allowing for more efficient use of space and weight. In addition, ductility is a key factor in the development of new materials for space applications, as it allows for the creation of stronger, more durable materials that can withstand the rigors of spaceflight.
