Deformable Mirror

A deformable mirror is a type of mirror composed of an array of small, independently adjustable mirrors that can be used to correct for distortions in optical systems. In space and astronautical engineering, deformable mirrors are used in adaptive optics systems to correct for atmospheric turbulence and other aberrations that can affect the performance of telescopes and other optical instruments. By adjusting the shape of the individual mirrors in real-time, deformable mirrors can compensate for these distortions and produce clearer, higher-resolution images. Deformable mirrors are also used in laser communications systems to correct for distortions caused by atmospheric turbulence and other factors that can affect the transmission of laser signals through the atmosphere.
