Data Handling Units

In the context of aerospace engineering, Data Handling Units (DHUs) refer to the integrated systems designed to manage and process the data generated by spacecraft or satellite. These units are responsible for the collection, storage, processing, and transmission of data. They play a crucial role in ensuring the smooth operation of the spacecraft by managing the data from various subsystems such as navigation, communication, power, and payload. The DHU is also responsible for the execution of commands received from the ground station, and for the preparation and transmission of telemetry data back to Earth. The complexity of a DHU can vary greatly depending on the mission requirements. For instance, a simple mission may only require a basic microcontroller, while a more complex mission, such as a Mars Rover, would require a sophisticated computer system capable of handling large amounts of data and performing complex computations. Regardless of the complexity, the reliability and robustness of the DHU are of utmost importance, as any failure could result in the loss of the mission.
