Classes

In space and astronautical engineering, classes refer to the categorization of spacecraft based on their mission objectives, design, and capabilities. There are several classes of spacecraft, including communication satellites, Earth observation satellites, scientific spacecraft, and human-rated spacecraft. Each class has its own unique set of requirements and design considerations. Communication satellites are designed to provide telecommunications services, such as television broadcasting and internet connectivity. Earth observation satellites are used to monitor the Earth's surface and atmosphere, and can be used for applications such as weather forecasting and environmental monitoring. Scientific spacecraft are designed to conduct research and exploration missions, such as studying the properties of planets and asteroids. Human-rated spacecraft are designed to transport astronauts to and from space, and can include spacecraft such as the Space Shuttle and the International Space Station.
