Ceramic Composites

Ceramic composites are materials made by combining ceramic fibers or particles with a ceramic matrix. The resulting material has improved mechanical properties, such as increased strength and toughness, compared to the individual components. Ceramic composites are used in various applications in space and astronautical engineering, including thermal protection systems, rocket nozzles, and engine components. The high temperature resistance and low thermal expansion of ceramic composites make them ideal for use in extreme environments, such as those encountered during space missions.
