Canopy

In space and astronautical engineering, a canopy refers to the transparent enclosure that covers the cockpit of an aircraft or spacecraft. The canopy is designed to provide protection to the crew from the external environment, including extreme temperatures, radiation, and debris. It is typically made of materials that are lightweight, strong, and resistant to impact and scratches. The canopy also plays a critical role in maintaining the aerodynamics of the vehicle, as it must be shaped to minimize drag and turbulence. In addition, the canopy may be equipped with various systems, such as heating, ventilation, and defogging, to ensure the visibility of the crew. Canopies are used in a wide range of vehicles, including fighter jets, helicopters, and spacecraft, and their design and construction are subject to rigorous testing and certification processes.
