Brazing

Brazing is a joining process in which two or more metal parts are joined together by melting a filler metal into the joint. The filler metal is heated above its melting point and distributed between the two metal parts by capillary action. Brazing is commonly used in space and astronautical engineering to join metal parts that cannot be welded due to their composition or size. The process is also used to join dissimilar metals, such as copper and aluminum, which cannot be welded together. Brazing produces a strong, leak-tight joint that can withstand high temperatures and pressures, making it ideal for use in spacecraft and rocket engines. The process can be performed manually or by automated machines, and can be done in a vacuum or in an inert gas atmosphere to prevent oxidation of the metal parts.
