Wave
In space and astronautical engineering, a wave refers to the propagation of energy through a medium without the physical transport of the medium itself. Electromagnetic waves, such as radio waves, microwaves, infrared radiation, visible light, ultraviolet radiation, X-rays, and gamma rays, are fundamental to many aspects of space and astronautical engineering, including communication, remote sensing, and astronomy. Electromagnetic waves can travel through the vacuum of space, making them essential for interplanetary and interstellar communication and observation. In addition to electromagnetic waves, space and astronautical engineering also deal with other types of waves, such as gravitational waves, which are ripples in the fabric of spacetime caused by the acceleration of massive objects, and plasma waves, which are oscillations in the density and electric field of ionized gases.
