Backup Propulsion Systems

Backup Propulsion Systems refer to the secondary or auxiliary propulsion systems that are designed to provide additional thrust or maneuvering capability to a spacecraft or satellite in case of a failure or malfunction of the primary propulsion system. These systems are critical for ensuring mission success and spacecraft safety, as they provide redundancy and backup capability in the event of an emergency. Backup Propulsion Systems can include a variety of technologies, such as cold gas thrusters, monopropellant thrusters, bipropellant thrusters, ion thrusters, and others. These systems are typically smaller and less powerful than the primary propulsion system, but they are designed to provide enough thrust to maintain spacecraft attitude control, orbital adjustments, and other critical functions. Backup Propulsion Systems are an essential component of spacecraft design and are subject to rigorous testing and qualification to ensure their reliability and performance in the harsh environment of space.
