Autocollimators

Autocollimators are optical instruments used to measure small angular deviations with high accuracy. They work by projecting a beam of light onto a target mirror and measuring the angle of reflection. In space and astronautical engineering, autocollimators are used for alignment and calibration of optical systems, such as telescopes and cameras. They are also used for measuring the deflection of structures under load, such as antennas and solar panels. Autocollimators can be either analog or digital, with digital autocollimators providing higher accuracy and faster measurement times. They are commonly used in the aerospace industry for testing and alignment of spacecraft components.
