Atmospheric Composition

Atmospheric composition refers to the mixture of gases that make up the Earth's atmosphere. The composition of the atmosphere is constantly changing due to natural processes such as volcanic eruptions and human activities such as burning fossil fuels. The most abundant gases in the atmosphere are nitrogen (78%) and oxygen (21%), while trace gases such as carbon dioxide, methane, and ozone play important roles in regulating the Earth's climate and protecting life from harmful solar radiation. Understanding the composition of the atmosphere is crucial for space and astronautical engineering as it affects the design and operation of spacecraft and their ability to navigate through the atmosphere and beyond.
