Apollo Spacecraft

The Apollo Spacecraft refers to the set of vehicles designed and used for the Apollo program, a series of American missions aiming to land humans on the Moon and bring them safely back to Earth. The spacecraft was composed of three main parts: the Command Module (CM), the Service Module (SM), and the Lunar Module (LM). The Command Module was the control center, housing the crew and the equipment needed for re-entry and splashdown. The Service Module contained the support systems for the Command Module and was also responsible for the propulsion and maneuvering of the spacecraft. The Lunar Module was a two-stage vehicle used for landing on the Moon and returning to the Command and Service Module in lunar orbit. The Apollo Spacecraft was launched by the Saturn V rocket and played a crucial role in achieving the goal of landing an astronaut on the Moon before the end of the 1960s, as proposed by President John F. Kennedy.
