Antiparticles
Antiparticles are particles that have the same mass as their corresponding particles, but opposite charge and other quantum numbers. When a particle and its antiparticle meet, they annihilate each other and produce energy in the form of gamma rays, neutrinos, or other particles. Antiparticles are important in space and astronautical engineering because they are produced in high-energy collisions, such as those that occur in cosmic rays or particle accelerators. They are also used in medical imaging and cancer treatment, as well as in the development of new technologies, such as positron emission tomography (PET) scanners. The study of antiparticles and their interactions with matter is an important area of research in particle physics and astrophysics.
