Air Purification

Air purification is the process of removing contaminants, such as dust, pollen, smoke, and other harmful particles, from the air. In space and astronautical engineering, air purification is a critical component of life support systems, as it ensures that the air inside spacecraft and habitats is safe for humans to breathe. Air purification systems typically use filters, such as activated carbon or HEPA filters, to trap and remove particles from the air. In addition, some systems use ionization or UV-C light to kill bacteria and viruses. The effectiveness of an air purification system is measured by its clean air delivery rate (CADR), which indicates how much clean air the system can produce per minute. In space, air purification systems are also used to remove carbon dioxide and other gases from the air, and to regulate temperature and humidity levels.
