Weather Facsimile (WEFAX)

Weather Facsimile (WEFAX) is a method of transmitting weather charts and images over radio waves. The images are transmitted in the form of analog signals, which are then decoded and printed on special paper. WEFAX is commonly used by mariners and aviators to obtain up-to-date weather information while at sea or in flight. The images transmitted via WEFAX include surface analysis charts, satellite images, and other weather-related graphics. WEFAX transmissions are typically broadcast on frequencies between 2 and 25 MHz, and can be received using a specialized radio receiver and antenna.
