AFCs
AFCs stands for Alkaline Fuel Cells, which are a type of fuel cell that uses an alkaline electrolyte. AFCs were one of the first types of fuel cells to be developed and were used by NASA in the Apollo missions to generate electricity and drinking water for the astronauts. AFCs have a high power density and are capable of operating at high efficiencies, making them ideal for use in space applications. They are also relatively low cost and have a long lifespan. However, they are sensitive to carbon dioxide and other impurities, which can reduce their efficiency and lifespan. AFCs are still used today in some space applications, such as the International Space Station.
