Active Shielding
Active Shielding is a technology used in space and astronautical engineering to protect spacecraft and astronauts from harmful radiation in space. It involves the use of magnetic fields to deflect charged particles away from the spacecraft or astronaut. The magnetic field is generated by a set of coils that surround the spacecraft or astronaut, and the strength and direction of the field can be adjusted in real-time to provide optimal protection. Active Shielding is particularly important for long-duration space missions, such as those to Mars, where astronauts would be exposed to high levels of radiation for extended periods of time. It is also used to protect sensitive electronic equipment on spacecraft from radiation-induced damage.
