Vibration Testing
Vibration testing is a process of subjecting a spacecraft or its components to simulated vibration environments that replicate the conditions experienced during launch and operation in space. The purpose of vibration testing is to ensure that the spacecraft or its components can withstand the mechanical stresses and vibrations that occur during launch and operation. Vibration testing is typically performed using electrodynamic shakers that generate controlled vibrations in three orthogonal axes. The test article is mounted on the shaker and subjected to a series of sinusoidal or random vibrations that simulate the launch and operational environments. The response of the test article to the vibrations is measured using accelerometers and other sensors, and the data is analyzed to determine whether the test article meets the vibration requirements. Vibration testing is an essential part of spacecraft development and qualification, and is required by most space agencies and launch providers.
