Very High Frequency (VHF)

Very High Frequency (VHF) is a range of radio frequencies between 30 MHz and 300 MHz. In space and astronautical engineering, VHF is commonly used for communication between ground stations and spacecraft, as well as between different spacecraft. VHF signals are able to penetrate the Earth's atmosphere and can be transmitted over long distances with relatively low power. VHF communication is often used for telemetry and tracking of spacecraft, as well as for voice and data communication with astronauts on board the International Space Station. VHF antennas are typically mounted on the exterior of spacecraft and can be either omnidirectional or directional, depending on the specific application.
