Vacuum Environment
Vacuum environment refers to a space or area where the pressure is significantly lower than the atmospheric pressure on Earth. In astronautical engineering, vacuum environments are of great importance as they are encountered in space and on the surfaces of celestial bodies. The absence of air and other gases in a vacuum environment can cause a number of challenges for spacecraft and equipment, such as overheating, outgassing, and material degradation. Therefore, designing and testing equipment that can withstand and operate in a vacuum environment is crucial for space missions. Vacuum chambers are commonly used to simulate vacuum environments on Earth for testing purposes. In addition, vacuum technology is used in various space applications, such as propulsion systems, thermal control, and scientific experiments.
