United Nations General Assembly

The United Nations General Assembly is one of the six main organs of the United Nations and is composed of representatives from all member states. It serves as a forum for member states to discuss and coordinate on international issues, including those related to space and astronautical engineering. The General Assembly has established several bodies and committees to address space-related issues, such as the Committee on the Peaceful Uses of Outer Space (COPUOS) and the United Nations Office for Outer Space Affairs (UNOOSA). These bodies work to promote international cooperation in the peaceful exploration and use of outer space, as well as to develop international space law and policy. The General Assembly also adopts resolutions and declarations related to space activities, such as the Declaration on International Cooperation in the Exploration and Use of Outer Space for the Benefit and in the Interest of All States, Taking into Particular Account the Needs of Developing Countries, which emphasizes the importance of international cooperation in space activities.
