Umbilical Cord

In space and astronautical engineering, the umbilical cord refers to a bundle of cables and hoses that connect a spacecraft or launch vehicle to its launch pad or ground support equipment. The umbilical cord provides power, communications, and fluid transfer between the spacecraft and the launch pad.
