Turbofan

A turbofan is a type of air-breathing jet engine that is widely used in aircraft propulsion. It consists of a gas turbine engine that drives a fan to produce thrust. The fan is enclosed in a duct, which allows for a portion of the incoming air to bypass the engine core and be accelerated out the back of the engine, creating additional thrust.
