Trans-Neptunian Objects


Trans-Neptunian Objects (TNOs) are celestial bodies that orbit the Sun beyond the planet Neptune. They are composed of various materials such as rock, ice, and organic compounds. TNOs are classified into different groups based on their orbital characteristics, such as the Kuiper Belt Objects (KBOs), scattered disc objects, and detached objects. The study of TNOs provides insights into the formation and evolution of the Solar System, as well as the dynamics of the outer Solar System. TNOs have been discovered through various methods, including ground-based telescopes, space-based telescopes, and surveys. The most famous TNO is Pluto, which was reclassified as a dwarf planet in 2006.
