Kuiper Belt Objects

Kuiper Belt Objects (KBOs) are small, icy bodies that orbit the Sun beyond Neptune's orbit in the Kuiper Belt. They are remnants from the early Solar System and are believed to be the building blocks of the outer planets. KBOs range in size from a few kilometers to several hundred kilometers in diameter. The largest KBO, Pluto, was reclassified as a dwarf planet in 2006. KBOs have a variety of surface features, including craters, mountains, and even possible evidence of cryovolcanism. Studying KBOs can provide insight into the formation and evolution of the Solar System, as well as the conditions that existed during its early history.
