Terrestrial Planet

A terrestrial planet is a planet that is primarily composed of silicate rocks or metals. These planets are also characterized by having a solid surface and being relatively small in size compared to gas giants. Terrestrial planets are typically located closer to the sun and have shorter orbital periods than gas giants. They have a thin or non-existent atmosphere and are not known to have rings. The four terrestrial planets in our solar system are Mercury, Venus, Earth, and Mars.
