Star Catalog
A star catalog is a list or database of stars, typically including their positions, magnitudes, spectral types, and other relevant information. Star catalogs are used for a variety of purposes, including navigation, astronomical research, and spacecraft guidance. The first star catalog was compiled by Hipparchus in ancient Greece, and since then many catalogs have been created using increasingly sophisticated techniques, such as astrometry and photometry. Some of the most well-known star catalogs include the Henry Draper Catalogue, the Hipparcos Catalogue, and the Gaia Catalogue.
