Spiral Galaxies

Spiral galaxies are a type of galaxy characterized by a central bulge surrounded by a flat rotating disk of stars, gas, and dust that is organized into a spiral pattern. These galaxies are typically massive and contain a large number of stars, with some containing up to hundreds of billions of stars. Spiral galaxies are thought to form through the gravitational collapse of gas and dust in the early universe, with the spiral arms forming due to density waves that propagate through the disk. They are important objects for studying the structure and evolution of galaxies, as well as for understanding the distribution of dark matter in the universe.
