Spheroids
In space and astronautical engineering, spheroids refer to objects that are approximately spherical in shape. Spheroids are commonly used in the design of spacecraft and space habitats due to their structural stability and efficient use of space. Spheroids can be made from a variety of materials, including metals, composites, and inflatable fabrics. They are often used as the basis for rotating habitats, which create artificial gravity through centrifugal force. Spheroids can also be used as the shape for spacecraft, such as the Apollo Command Module, which was a truncated spheroid. In addition, spheroids are used in the design of planetary landers and rovers, as their shape allows for efficient use of space and stability on uneven terrain.
