Sounding Rocket
A sounding rocket is a type of rocket that is designed to take measurements and perform scientific experiments during its sub-orbital flight. It is used to carry instruments and experiments into the upper atmosphere or outer space, allowing scientists to study various phenomena such as atmospheric pressure, temperature, and density, as well as cosmic rays, magnetic fields, and other space-related phenomena. Sounding rockets are typically single-stage rockets that are relatively small and inexpensive compared to other types of rockets. They are launched vertically and reach altitudes of up to 1,000 kilometers before falling back to Earth. Sounding rockets are an important tool for space and astronautical engineering research, as they provide a cost-effective way to conduct experiments in space without the need for a full-scale orbital mission.
